WINEMAKER COMMENTS
This Old Vine Zinfandel presents an excellent combination of spice and bright, red fruit in Zinfandel is unique Dry Creek's terroir. The smaller berries of the 2013 harvest yielded a wine of impressive color, density and concentration. On the palate, the wine is complex with succulent flavors of jam blackberry, cherry and raspberry along with a complex spicy undertone. In our Old Vine Zinfandel, the vines are more than 50 years in age and in some cases, more than 90 years old. Our Dry Creek Valley wine shines through immediately with silky smooth tannins and a firm grip of natural acidity and balance. Our Zinfandel comes from a blend of the best appellation of Zinfandel: 87% Dry Creek valley grape, 6% Alexander Vallerand 7% Mendocino County. To finish this old vine has a very good balance tannins which are typical for Silvia Cellars style; the 2013 vintage is soft, elegant and straight forward.
